The Division of Digestive Disease is looking for a candidate to the perform duties of a Laboratory Assistant by helping perform high throughput microbial sample processing for DNA/RNA sequencing under the direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. In this role, you will maintain the lab's biobank of microbial samples, assist in lab maintenance, and assist in mouse experiments. The position will involve interaction with different collaborators as well as the UCLA Microbiome Core. The targeted hourly salary for this role is: $20.66-$24.30
Required:. * Ability to work nights and weekends as needed. * Ability to organize and present results in an appropriate format. * Ability to maintain complete and accurate records. * Able to read and understand scientific protocols. * Ability to work independently after training. * Ability to work in an aseptic environment. * Ability to reliably pipette hundreds of samples with no errors. * Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills. * Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work schedule. * Skill in working with DNA and RNA, including extraction from fecal samples and PCR. Preferred: * Educational background in Biological Sciences, BA or equivalent.
