Outreach and Transport Coordinator - Los Angeles

The Spay/Neuter Operations (SNO) Outreach and Transport Coordinator engages in grassroots efforts to increase overall wellness and the percentage of altered pets in focus communities by promoting Spay/Neuter program awareness, building trusted partnerships with community residents and agency leaders, and connecting ASPCA pet services direc! tly to people who need them. This person works primarily with selected underserved communities using focused outreach techniques, including door-to-door communication and continued contact with community members. In addition, this role will be responsible transporting some spay/neuter candidates between designated locations and the clinic.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Build relationships with community residents to promote & connect with others in need of our services while sharing information about the benefits of spay/neuter to individuals and groups.
  • Cultivate and maintain new partnerships with local businesses, libraries, public housing complexes, community centers, and other organizations that lead to increased awareness about spay/neuter.
  • Seek out opportunities and represent the program and staff display booths at community forums, fairs, festivals and other events.
  • Network with community groups, local spay/neuter provi! ders, animal welfare groups and city organizations, creating r! elationships to support efforts.
  • Seek out potential volunteer partners to provide outreach and programming support.
  • Gather & track outreach data and results; submit reports as required.
  • Drive surgery candidates to and from the clinic as needed while observing speed limits and all good driving rules.
  • Provide excellent customer service to pet owners during pick up and drop off.
  • When picking up animals for transport, visually screen all spay/neuter candidates to preliminarily determine fitness for surgery.
  • Ensure animals are securely fastened in crates and safely load them into the transport vehicle during pickup and drop off.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Education and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Current CA driver license with strong driving record required.
  • Access to personal vehicle preferred.
Experience:
  • Must ! have 2-3 years of professional work experience community organizing, social service, sales or customer service experience.
  • A minimum of 1 year of animal care and handling experience required.
Skills Requirements:
  • Bilingual English/Spanish required.
  • Must possess excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
  • Must possess ability to work independently as well as part of team.
  • Must possess strong self-motivation skills and ability to pay close attention to details.
  • Must have strong interest in animal welfare and promoting spay/neuter.
  • Must have experience working with diverse urban populations.
  • Must present oneself and the ASPCA professionally.
Additional Information:
  • Position is located in Los Angeles, California.
  • Position is full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, and may require evenings and full weekends.
  • May requir! e occasional overtime.
