OR Technician - Open Heart Surgery

The Operating Room Technician is responsible for providing surgeons with instruments and supplies, preparation of the sterile field, passing instr! uments, and verifying sponge, needles and instrument count. Performs all duties within OSHA, JCAHO, AORN, and department policies and procedures.
Job Requirements
a. Minimum Education Requirement : Must possess reading, writing, and mathematical skills, and ability to understand written instruction and receive and transmit information; skills/ability normally acquired through a high school diploma or equivalent (GED).
b. Minimum Experience Requirement : Successful completion of a Surgical Technology program or a LPN/Surgical Technician with previous surgical scrubbing experience; experience normally acquired through on-the-job training in an OR setting is preferred. Must possess excellent organizational skills and the ability to anticipate surgeon's needs during surgical procedures. Effective interpersonal communication skills in order to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with surgeons, coworkers and administra! tive personnel.
c. Minimum License Requirement : Must possess current BLS certification within probationary period, which is renewed every two years. Current surgical technologist certification preferred.
Physical Requirements and Environmental Conditions
Heavy Work: Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 50 lbs with a maximum lifting of 100 lbs.
