Must be proficient in written and spoken English DUTIES:
The VA Medical Cent! er, Huntington WV announces the opening of its search for one full-time board certified or board eligible Urologist to perform the full range of Urology procedures to include surgical procedures. The Urologist functions as a provider for urology consultation, clinical coverage and care of the patient through the pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative phases of urological surgical intervention. The incumbent will assure

clinical coverage and the post-operative follow-up through the post-anesthesia recovery room to same day unit/inpatient unit to discharge.

The incumbent is accountable to the Chief, Surgical Service, for assuring the most effective delivery of care in general Urology while meeting and exceeding compliance standards. Participates in and/or manages all aspects of a general urology surgery program.

This includes assessing actual or potential urological problems for patients in the Urology Clinic, Emergency Department, as wel! l as on-going assessment for all inpatient surgery patients, including ! both pre-operative and post-operative documentation. The Urologist collaborates with the on-call Surgical Resident/Attending Physicians to determine and implement appropriate surgical management.

The Urologist would perform the usual administrative components of patient care management, such as: documentation of progress notes and consultation findings in an electronic medical record, dictation and electronic signature of OP reports and hospital discharge summaries, electronic entry and signature of all doctor's orders for inpatients and outpatients, etc. The Urologist would provide surgical treatment for major and minor procedures,

stone management, urology consultations for inpatients and outpatients. Performs other directly related duties as required. Participates in a shared rotation of night and weekend On-Call coverage. Performs other directly related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:BASIC REQUIREM ENTS:
U.S. cit! izenship. Non-citizens may be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
D egree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.

Preferred Experience: Experience should have been gained in the specialty we are recruiting.
