Experience/Licenses/Certifications Requirements: Proficiency in using word processing and computer systems. Must have clinical experience in Bariatric Surgery. Current PA-C and CPR certification.
Job Summary: Under the supervision of the Bariatric Programs Director and Medical Director of Bariatric Surgery, the Bariatric Physician Assistant will assist in! many aspects of patient care including inpatient and outpatie! nt settings, working independently and as part of a treatment team. The PA will work collaboratively with the surgeons and the healthcare team to provide comprehensive surgical care to the Bariatric Surgical patient.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Performs comprehensive physical examinations on patients who present with acute and/or chronic illnesses resulting in diagnoses and treatment as indicated.
Performs appropriate medical screening procedures, interprets laboratory data correctly and orders appropriate laboratory investigations, when indicated, in accordance with established protocols.
Works collaboratively with the surgeons and the healthcare team to provide comprehensive surgical care to the Metabolic and Bariatric/General Surgical patient.
Uses medical resources (nutrition evaluation, labs, medication, psych-social; needs, etc.)
Maintains an organized work environment to assist in quick data retrieval when nece! ssary.
Organizes accurate filing systems and aids in maintenance for all files for survey readiness.
Communicates clearly and in a supportive manner with patients and/or family regarding conditions, prognosis, health needs and available services.
Ensures that bariatric files and related materials are kept secure and confidential.
Coordinates the ongoing bariatric education of all direct care staff on at least a monthly basis including GHO-clinical component.
Verifies information for compliance.
Other duties as indicated.
Proficient in utilization of appropriate office equipment, computer systems/programs, and Word and Excel.
Maintains current knowledge of Hospital Operational standards to facilitate communication with personnel as needed.
Utilizes communication skills maximally in working with a variety of individuals.
Prioritizes activities based on a large volume of work demands in c! ollaboration with both departments.
Exercises sound judgment i! n dealing with all levels of hospital personnel, visitors and other individuals having transactions with both departments.
Participates in relevant in-service programs and other self-directed learning activities which promote growth in position.
Consistently provide outstanding service to all patients, physicians, fellow employees and guests as appropriate to position.
Displays initiative to see processes through completion and offers assistance without being asked.
Consistently responds to requests in a timely manner.
Adheres to policies on appropriate access.
